Step by step

A typical time line for production is...

1

We receive a signed order and payment from you, we acknowledge this via email and then your named S8080 project manager will contact you to provide you with a login to our client area. You will be asked to choose a website layout from our collection of tried and tested designs. We will also ask you to email your logo to us – obviously, the higher quality the JPEG (or similar) file, the better.

2

Tell us the web address you would like to use – we have included a new .co.uk domain name to host your e-marketing system and website (we can only purchase available domain names). If you already have a domain name that you are happy with, we will provide you with the information to give to your ISP so they can re-point your existing domain to your new website. You can keep your website address the same. We can transfer your existing domain if you wish, but you must set up your own email and your internet connectivity.

3

You reply to our email with a telephone number, date and time that we can call you to discuss the design of your site.

4

Our designer will then call you to discuss the design, your logo (which you have already supplied), your chosen website layout and your colour scheme.

5

Our designer will then spend their allotted 1.5 hours creating a bespoke look and feel for your website.

6

Our designer will send you a link to your design and ask you to provide comments via email (if required we will make one round of revisions for you, our designer will be very clear if an item is out of the scope of this package and will suggest alternatives).

7

Our designer will send you a link to your updated design for you to sign off. Only once we have the sign off email from you, will we proceed to the next step.

8

We receive the sign off email from you that confirms that you are very happy with your design and you would like us to proceed with building your website.

9

We integrate your design into your website and eMarketing templates.
We test and ‘soft launch’ the site on the selected URL (web address) that we purchased for you on your behalf (the general public will not be able to see it at this stage). We will provide a standard S8080 holding page at the web address until you are ready to launch your website.

10

We email your username and password for your website, an online QuickStart guide and resources to help you write for the web. At this stage you will also be provided with the full online Help system.

11

You simply load your text and pictures into the pages we have already set up for you at your own pace, there is no time limit. Once you are happy with how your site looks, you simply click the button to make your website live and the world will be able to see it.

12

You can change the text, picture, navigation buttons and structure whenever you like. You do not need to rely on web designers any more. You have total control over your website and eMarketing.

Congratulate yourself.
You are now one of very few organisations who are making the most of the web… You can keep your site up-to-date, search engines will be able to find you and you can proactively market to your site visitors.

Well done.

Project management

S8080's handsome Project team leader

We are ridiculously organised and efficient. We are famed for it in a [creative] industry that is well known for being 'relaxed'. Our PRINCE2 qualified project management team keep everything on track and on budget with efficiency, humility and good humour.

Rest assured, they are the same people who run huge website builds for our larger clients, so you are in very, very safe hands.

Design

design

Probably the one thing our clients appreciate more than anything else is that they have the chance to discuss the design of their new website with a real designer - the actual designer who will be working on your website.

They’ll give you a call at a convenient time to discuss your design and layout, colour scheme, logo and photographs. They won’t blind you with science or arty nonsense; they are just really nice people who love what they do.

Quality and Standards

Where do we start?

With ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Standard I suppose.

quality certificates

This is the glue that holds together every process and procedure that goes towards building each of our websites. It’s a tough standard to attain and it’s even tougher to keep year on year. Not many creative agencies have it… we were one of the first.

We’re green and we mean it

environmental standards

S8080 have been working towards making our online digital agency as planet friendly as it possibly can be. In an office of 18 people, there are several steps that can be taken to reduce our impact, so we set ourselves difficult goals, including the elusive ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management standard.

This standard is normally only attained by much larger companies, but with so many organisations jumping on the ‘green’ bandwagon, we wanted to put some muscle behind our claims.

Every aspect of the environmental impact of our business is audited and assessed against the stringent International Standards Organisation guidelines including our energy usage and waste streams right down to buying eco friendly cleaning products and fair trade and local beverages for the team.

In the past year or so, we have replaced over 30 computer monitors, we recycle daily and have a transport policy that promotes the use of public transport. Our suppliers have to submit environmental statements and those who can’t cut it are replaced, regardless of any trading history and relationship we may have with them. Even carrier bags from Sainsbury’s are recycled.

Wasting any resources is not an option any more.

Team interest
Every member of our team is aware of the issues surrounding sustainability– this even carries over into our work having designed and built the ‘Every Action Counts’ website for DEFRA, which provides advice and support to voluntary and community organisations which are looking to reduce their impact on the environment, tackle climate change and improve their local area. We have also developed a major website for Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council to develop their Environmental Forum website

The decision to make our studio environmentally friendly was based on the wishes of our team, particularly the more senior members, many of whom have made personal commitments to sustainability. For example, almost all of our team recycles beyond council collections, our network administrator, (don’t get him started on flying in produce from afar) insists we buy only fair trade tea and coffee, several of us grow our own fruit and vegetables and our project team lead actually has a ‘wormery’ in his basement!

Small things we know, but comforting all the same.

Looking after our people

looking after our people

Great people are the reason S8080 is so good at what we do. Therefore, we also attained OHSAS 18001:1999 Occupational Health and Safety Management Standard (yes, we are gluttons for punishment) and the Investors in People standard.
